Rise & Lead by OWIT Lake Geneva: November Edition – Mentoring Program

OWIT Lake Geneva is proud to introduce the Rise & Lead Mentoring Program, a unique opportunity for members and partners to engage in a month-long mentorship journey designed to enhance both personal and professional growth.

Program Overview:

The Rise & Lead Mentoring Program connects experienced professionals with those looking to develop their careers. Over the course of one month, mentors will guide mentees through a series of structured sessions, offering invaluable industry insights, skill development, and career advice. The program is open to OWIT Lake Geneva members, partners, and students from associated institutions.

Program Details:

  • Duration: 1 month (minimum of 4 meetings, 30-45 minutes each)
  • Kickoff Date: 2nd November 2024 (10:00 am - 3:00 pm, including 4 workshops covering essential themes: Leadership, Networking, Financial Literacy, Women Empowerment), registration mandatory
  • End-of-Program Celebration: 29th November 2024

Mentorship sessions will be focused on key topics such as leadership, networking, financial literacy, and women’s empowerment. Meetings can be conducted online or in person, providing flexibility for both mentors and mentees.

For mentors, this is an opportunity to share knowledge, shape the next generation of leaders, and contribute to the growth of fellow professionals. For mentees, this program provides direct access to valuable mentorship, helping you refine your skills, expand your network, and achieve your career goals.

How to Get Involved:

  • Registration: Open from October 21-30, 2024
  • Pairing: Mentors and mentees will be matched by interest and professional goals
  • Program: November 2-29, 2024
  • Celebration Event: 29th November, with an opportunity to network and share experiences

Who Can Join?

  • Mentors: Professionals with a minimum of 3 years of experience, passionate about sharing their expertise
  • Mentees: OWIT Lake Geneva members as well as other OWIT chapter's members, partners or students, committed to personal and professional growth

Kicksoff Day Workshops details: 

Workshop 1: “Personal Leadership and Goal Setting”, by Laure Bouery

Objective: To help participants define their personal and professional goals while developing leadership skills that are vital for success in business and nonprofit sectors.

Key Topics:

• Identifying your personal leadership style

• Setting SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound)

• Managing priorities and time effectively

• How to remain adaptable and resilient in challenging environments

Activities:

• A guided exercise in goal-setting

• Peer-sharing sessions to discuss leadership experiences and challenges

Workshop 2: “Building Networks and Creating Partnerships”, by Hilda Lorena Tuñón

Objective: To teach participants how to effectively build a network and leverage partnerships to advance their career, business, or nonprofit.

Key Topics:

• Importance of networking in business, entrepreneurship, and NGOs

• Techniques for building strong, lasting relationships

• How to seek and nurture mentorship opportunities

• Collaborating with partners for mutual growth

Activities:

• Networking simulation activity or speed networking session

• Exercises on crafting an elevator pitch or LinkedIn profile

Workshop 3: “Financial Literacy and Business Planning”, by Anju Devasar

Objective: To equip participants with the foundational financial skills and business planning strategies necessary for running successful businesses, organizations, or projects.

Key Topics:

• Basics of financial literacy (cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting)

• Business model development for startups and social enterprises

• Fundraising strategies and resource mobilization for businesses and NGOs

• Financial sustainability for entrepreneurs and nonprofits

Activities:

• Case studies on real-world business challenges

• Group work on developing simple business plans or project budgets

Workshop 4: “Empowering Women in Leadership and Trade”, by Hulya Kurt

Objective: To inspire and provide tools for women to navigate challenges, build confidence, and succeed in leadership and trade.

Key Topics:

• Overcoming barriers to female leadership in business and trade

• Building confidence and negotiating effectively

• Best practices and success stories from female leaders

• Gender equity and inclusion in business and nonprofit sectors

Activities:

• Panel discussion with successful women in business and NGO leadership

• Group discussions on gender-specific challenges and solutions
