Exclusive to OWIT members!
As part of OWIT commitment to enabling professional development amongst our members, we are starting to pilot a mentoring scheme. This is a dedicated service for OWIT members that puts people who want to mentor and those who want to be mentored in touch with each other.
Although people may see the benefit of mentoring for the mentee (the person who is being mentored) there are many benefits for the mentor too: such as increasing understanding of a different business environment; opening themselves up to new perspectives; personal satisfaction and the sense of providing a legacy.
For the mentee a mentoring relationship can provide feedback and coaching from someone who is not their boss, an opportunity to understand a different perspective and to develop new skills and expertise, enhancing their network and helping them in times of change or transition.
We have set up a framework that provides you with useful hints and tips, an outline for your first meeting and some guidance on skill development
As this is a pilot project, we are interested in hearing from people who want to be mentors and those who want to be mentees. As each individual has different mentoring requirements we are looking to provide a personal “connecting” service between mentors and mentees
